Environment
Thematics
The principles of Maat, rooted in ancient Egyptian civilization, offer an essential guide to promoting sustainable environmental solutions in the contemporary context. This involves not only the active promotion of environmentally-friendly technologies, such as renewable energies and sustainable agricultural practices, but also a deep commitment to the preservation of natural resources. Striving to achieve a delicate balance between economic development and ecosystem conservation, Wagadu is committed to integrating policies and practices that will enable long-term sustainability. This includes implementing measures to protect biodiversity, promoting sustainable natural resource management and raising awareness of the importance of preserving fragile ecosystems.
Fishery Project

Bridging the gap in new technologies to protect small-scale fisheries against negative impacts of oil and gas exploitation in Senegal
Kayar fishermen have received training in legislation, marine environment protection and negative impacts oil and gas exploitation. This has empowered and enabled them to oppose more effectively. They now understand the issue, its consequences and they also know that they are protected by the legislation. Neither public nor private institutions have the right to harm their activities or the resources on which they depend. Previously, they were unable to pursue their grievances because they lacked the means to prove them, for this reason Wagadu has trained and equipped them to use the Blue-Track platform. Thus, an informed community that is aware of its rights and understands the issue can provide its own evidence to catalyse the knowledge received. Synergies between communities will improve visibility and change the paradigm from one of victims to one of people who are responsible for their own future.
